Only personal remittances such as remittances towards family maintenance and remittances favouring foreign tourists visiting India are permissible. Trade related remittances, remittances towards purchase of property, investments or credit to NRE/FCNR Accounts, etc or donations/contributions to charitable organizations are not permitted to be routed through MTSS.

Any single remittance under the Scheme shall not exceed USD 2500 or its equivalent and not more than 12 remittances shall be received by a single recipient through the Principal in a year.

All remittances exceeding Rs.50,000/- shall be paid only by cheque/DD/P.O or by direct credit to the account of the recipient.

Payments to the recipients shall be made in Indian Rupees on the basis of ongoing exchange rates.
